I’ve never painted before. Is this class for me?

Yes! Beginners are warmly encouraged. I’ll demonstrate the techniques step by step, and you’ll have time to experiment on practice paper before working on your painting. Questions are welcome throughout.

What will I take home?

You’ll leave with one 7 × 7-inch floral painting on 300 lb, 100% cotton watercolor paper, plus two practice sheets with your color and technique explorations.

Are supplies included? Can I bring my own?

Everything you need is provided for use during class: paper, brushes, regular and metallic watercolors, POSCA paint pens, and water-soluble pastels. Some paints and tools will be shared around the table.

You’re also welcome to bring favorite brushes, paints, or other supplies you enjoy working with. Bringing your own materials is completely optional.

Where does the class take place?

We’ll paint together around a shared table in my home art studio in SE Portland. It’s a small, comfortable setting with room for conversation, questions, and encouragement. I’ll email the exact address and arrival details after you book.

How many people will attend?

There are seven student spaces available. A minimum of five paid registrations is needed for the class to go ahead.

How do I reserve my spot?

Book and pay through this page. Please provide the attendee’s full name, email address, and mobile number when registering so I can send confirmation, arrival information, and any class updates.

Your payment reserves your space, subject to the class reaching its five-student minimum.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

For a full refund, please email your cancellation to heathermaderart@gmail.com by Friday, October 2, at 6 p.m. Pacific.

After that deadline, registrations are nonrefundable because materials and preparations will already be underway. You may transfer your spot to a friend—just email me their name and contact information before class. Missed classes are nonrefundable.

What happens if there aren’t enough registrations, or you need to cancel?

If fewer than five people have registered by October 2 at 6 p.m. Pacific, I’ll notify everyone by email and issue full refunds.

If I need to cancel the class for any other reason, you’ll also receive a full refund.

Will there be refreshments?

Yes! Gluten-free snacks and sparkling water will be served.

What should I wear or bring?

Wear comfortable clothes you’re happy to paint in. All required supplies are included, so simply bring yourself—and any favorite art materials you’d like to use.

Are there stairs to enter the house?

Yes, there is one set of 10 stairs leading up to the house. They’re not especially steep, and there’s a handrail for support. Please reach out before booking if you have questions about access.

Are there any household policies I should know about?

We’re a shoes-off household. You’re welcome to bring cozy socks or indoor slippers! Shoe coverings will also be provided if you need to keep your shoes on.

The home is free of pets and cigarette smoke and strong perfumes. Cigarette smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property, but there is a sidewalk in front of the house if you need to smoke.
